LEAN Transformation at Dorma

LEAN Transformation is probably a misnomer.  We do not wake up one day and find that we are LEAN.  A LEAN Transformation has a beginning but really no end.  Ideally, it really has continuous beginnings that all have no ends.  Perhaps it is the perfect cliffhanger story.  At least this has been our approach at DORMA.  We say there are no ends because we are in a constant state of improvement.  No sooner do we complete an event we start thinking about how we can make it just a little bit better.  We are pleased share with you our LEAN Transformation experiences.  We do not claim that there is a correct way or a wrong way.  We can tell you about our way.  How we took our first steps.  How we built a foundation and grew from there.  We will share our pitfalls and setbacks.  There are no mistakes since we can always learn from any situation.  In the last 5 years we recreated our factory two times.  Each time there was a strategy to support.  Each time we enhanced our LEAN efforts.  What is a LEAN Transformation?  It is the removal of wastes as seen by the customer.
